Terms and conditions for taxis operating within the port areas of Faxaflóahafnir sf.

1. Scope and Purpose

These terms and conditions apply to access to designated, restricted taxi areas at VÖR, Skarfabakki, and Miðbakki. The purpose of these terms is to ensure safety, quality, professional presentation of services, and positive customer experience.


2. Conditions for Access and Applications

Only taxis that meet the following conditions are permitted access to the areas referred to in Article 1;

a. A valid operating and business licence in accordance with Act No. 120/2022 on Taxi Services must be in force.

b. The operator must be registered with a taxi dispatch station holding a valid operating licence issued by the Icelandic Transport Authority.

Faxaflóahafnir reserves the right to request confirmation of such registration and/or documentation demonstrating compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Applications for access permits shall be submitted via the Faxaflóahafnir website under applications.

An operator/licence holder granted access permission shall be considered a user of the relevant areas.


3. Obligations of Faxaflóahafnir

Faxaflóahafnir shall provide users with access to designated taxi areas at VÖR, Skarfabakki, and Miðbakki for the purpose of picking up or dropping off passengers.


4. Obligations of the User

The user is responsible for complying with Act No. 120/2022, as amended, and all other applicable laws and regulations governing taxi operations, including electronic trip registration and data retention requirements, as applicable.

Failure to comply may result in suspension of access for up to four (4) weeks. Repeated or serious violations may lead to permanent revocation of access.

The user may not refuse service except on objective and legitimate grounds.

Refusal of service based on destinations shall result in immediate suspension of access.

Passengers shall be informed that complaints regarding pricing or service may be directed to the relevant taxi dispatch station and/or the Icelandic Transport Authority.

Vehicles may not remain in the area longer than necessary for passenger pick-up or drop-off.


5. Access Control for Taxis

Access is controlled by gates using automatic licence plate recognition.

Pre-booked taxis with valid access permits travelling to VÖR and Skarfabakki shall enter via Gate 12 and park in spaces 49 and 50. If both spaces are occupied, drivers must contact Faxaflóahafnir staff (“Ask me”) for traffic management assistance.


6. Violations and Sanctions

Violations of these rules may result in temporary or permanent exclusion from access to the areas to which these terms and conditions apply, cf. Article 1.

7. Police Notifications and Dispute Resolution

Violations or suspected violations of law shall always be reported to the police. Disputes shall be referred to the Reykjavík District Court.


8. Amendments

Faxaflóahafnir reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions.

Faxaflóahafnir reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions.
