The new passenger terminal opens in spring 2026
In spring 2026, the Ports of Faxaflói will open a new and impressive multi-purpose passenger terminal that will serve the large number of cruise passengers arriving each year. The building will be 5,500 m² over two floors and will offer spectacular views over the bay.
The passenger terminal will replace the current temporary and limited facilities, ensure improved service for visitors, and support the goal of the Ports of Faxaflói to increase the number of turnaround cruise passengers.

The environment as a priority
EPI is a tool that enables ports to assess the environmental footprint of cruise ships during their port calls. The aim is to establish financial incentives for more environmentally friendly and sustainable cruise ship operations, thereby reducing the benefits of calling at the Ports of Faxaflói with polluting vessels.

Shore Power Request
Requests for services, including shore power connection, must be submitted by the vessel’s agent at least five days prior to the vessel’s arrival in Reykjavík. The request must include technical information as well as the name, email address, and phone number of the person in charge (PIC) of the vessel, in order to ensure proper processing of the request.
